Reconstruct a timeline through a flashback
Separate event order from narrative order and distinguish a past forecast from a later observed result.
A report may start with a missed train, then return to earlier events. War abgefahren and hatte gelesen place those events before a past reference point; their position in the paragraph does not determine their actual order. Lea reaches the station at 08:10 after the 08:05 departure. Her later prediction of 09:15 is distinct from the observed 09:18 arrival. Sequence alone does not measure the separate causes of a delay.
When she reached the station, the train had already departed.
Before that, she had read the message at home.
After checking the connection, she reported the expected arrival.
The forecast made then must be distinguished from the later outcome.
The order of the account does not consistently follow the events.
The sequence alone does not establish an unambiguous cause.

Separate event order from narrative order and distinguish a past forecast from a later observed result.
Do not treat a flashback as a later event, a forecast as an observed arrival, or a temporal sequence as a complete causal explanation.
Use the past perfect to mark an event completed before a past reference point: hatte gelesen, war abgefahren. Nachdem locates the main event after the event in its clause; a connector and the context must be read together, not reduced to the order of the printed sentences.
Write a 250–300-word German report for the seminar organiser. Give the event timeline, explain the flashback, distinguish forecast from actual arrival and correct the unsupported single-cause claim. Use at least two past-perfect forms and a temporal connector.
