Communicate what is certain and what is still open
Die Teilnahme ist möglich, sofern mein Antrag rechtzeitig bestätigt wird.
Preserve conditions and uncertainty when explaining a future opportunity to another person.
A future opportunity may depend on a reply, available places or a deadline. Sofern and falls introduce conditions; voraussichtlich and wahrscheinlich mark expectations rather than certainty. Die Teilnahme ist möglich, sofern mein Antrag bestätigt wird does not say the application has already been approved. Distinguish the deadline for submitting an application from the later decision date. Beim bisherigen Stand describes the information currently available and leaves room for change. When relaying a plan, keep the condition attached to the outcome and state what still needs checking. Do not invent approval, funding or a deadline extension.

An application deadline is not automatically a confirmation date. Do not remove sofern when summarizing a conditional opportunity.
Confirmed fact → expectation → condition → missing decision → check/action. Sofern/falls + verb-final clause; wahrscheinlich ≠ sicher.
