Paired connectors: add, exclude and compare changes
Link matching sentence parts clearly and describe how one change relates to another with je … desto.
Sowohl … als auch includes both named elements: both online and in person. Weder … noch excludes both: neither in the morning nor in the afternoon. Do not add a separate nicht to the simple negative example; weder … noch already provides the negation.
Nicht nur … sondern auch adds and highlights a second element. Keep the connected parts parallel: two nouns, two adjectives or two similarly structured phrases. A comma comes before sondern; the simple noun or adjective pairs with sowohl/als auch and weder/noch do not need a comma between the paired elements.
Je + comparative introduces the subordinate part with the finite verb at the end: Je früher wir planen. Desto + comparative begins the main clause: desto leichter finden wir einen Termin. The whole desto phrase occupies the first main-clause position, followed by the finite verb.
Je … desto describes linked changes; it does not by itself prove causation or guarantee a numerical result. Use comparatives such as früher, genauer, leichter and hilfreicher. These connectors can be encountered before B2; here they are brought together for more precise formulation and word-order practice.
