Apply an exception only to the requirement it changes
Eine Ausnahme auf die richtige Voraussetzung beziehen
Read conditions and exceptions with a precise scope and avoid treating a limited exemption as permission to ignore every rule.
An exception modifies a particular requirement, not automatically the whole process. In a fictional maker space, using the equipment requires a booking and an introductory session. Anyone with a valid training confirmation from this year is exempt from the introductory session, but still needs a booking. Safety instructions at the start of each visit apply to everyone. Exceptive phrases such as mit Ausnahme von require you to find exactly what is excluded. Build a small mental list of requirements and cross out only the one actually covered by the exception. If the document’s validity is not established, ask instead of assuming.
Use requires a booking and an introduction.
With valid confirmation from this year, only the introduction is waived.
Booking remains necessary in this case too.
The exception applies provided the confirmation meets the stated condition.
The safety instructions at the start still apply to everyone.
For an older confirmation, validity should be clarified first.

Do not extend exemption from an introduction to booking or safety instructions, and do not assume a previous-year confirmation is valid this year.
Identify the general requirement, the exact exemption, its condition and the rules that still apply. An exception has a bounded scope.
Write a 180–220-word German explanation for two fictional maker-space users. General rule: booking plus introductory session; a valid confirmation from this year removes only the introductory-session requirement; safety instructions apply at every visit to everyone. Alex has this year’s valid confirmation; Bea has only last year’s and its current validity is not established. Explain known requirements and the question Bea must ask, without inventing approval.
