Reading a roster and handing over
Meine Schicht beginnt um halb sieben.
Read working times, identify completed and remaining tasks, and leave a useful handover note.
A roster uses von … bis … for a time span: von 6:30 bis 14:30 Uhr. Halb sieben means 6:30, half an hour before seven. Eine halbe Stunde is 30 minutes. Distinguish already completed work (schon / bereits), work not yet completed (noch nicht) and work still required (noch). In a handover, combine a completed event with a remaining task: Ich habe die Liste geprüft. Die Lieferung müssen wir noch kontrollieren. A stated break may need to be subtracted when a text asks for actual working time.

Do not read halb sieben as 7:30: it is 6:30. Sieben Uhr dreißig is 7:30, also called halb acht.
von … bis … = time span; halb sieben = 6:30; schon = already; noch nicht = not yet.
Write a handover with your shift time, one finished task, one unfinished task and a question for the next colleague.
