Emergency language and 112

Notfall und 112

Use short German phrases to ask for help and give a location or describe what you observe.

Practise short statements: Ich brauche Hilfe; Wir sind in der Bahnhofstraße 10; Eine Person ist verletzt. Bitte rufen Sie 112 is a polite request to another person. This is language practice, not emergency-service training or a substitute for professional instructions. Review ich brauche, the formal request verb + Sie and a simple address. In the fictional dialogue, Wo sind Sie? asks for the location; Was ist passiert? asks what happened. Practise these sentences without making a real emergency call.

Ich brauche Hilfe.

I need help.

Bitte rufen Sie 112 an.

Please call 112.

Wir sind in der Bahnhofstraße 10.

We are at Bahnhofstraße 10.

Eine Person ist verletzt.

One person is injured.

Die Person ist nicht ansprechbar.

The person is unresponsive.

Ich warte hier.

I will wait here.

A formal request uses the verb followed by Sie: Bitte rufen Sie 112 an. Statements begin with the person or thing described: Eine Person ist verletzt. Keep nicht in Die Person ist nicht ansprechbar because it changes the meaning.

The phrases give different information: a need for help, a request to call, a location and an observation. Bahnhofstraße 10 is only the example address; it is not your location.

Ruft does not go with formal Sie in this request. Use rufen Sie. Eine Person ist müde is grammatically correct, but means a person is tired, not injured.

Need: brauche Hilfe. Location: wir sind … . Injury: verletzt. Not responding: nicht ansprechbar. Keep these meanings distinct.

In a fictional practice conversation, ask for help, give a made-up address and use one observation from the lesson. Do not place a real call for practice.
