Steps and instructions

Schritte und Anweisungen

Follow a short sequence: wait, come along, sign and leave when permitted.

Use zuerst, dann, danach and zum Schluss to link steps. Bitte zuerst hier warten is a short infinitive instruction. The following sentences address someone politely with Sie. Dann and danach connect later steps; they are not fixed numbers. Practise with a fictional situation, not real documents or signatures. In Zum Schluss können Sie gehen, können can express that leaving is possible or permitted; it is not an obligation.

Bitte zuerst hier warten.

Please wait here first.

Dann kommen Sie mit.

Then come along.

Danach unterschreiben Sie.

After that, you sign.

Zum Schluss können Sie gehen.

At the end, you can leave.

The first instruction uses warten as an infinitive. In Dann kommen Sie mit, mit is the separated part of mitkommen. In Zum Schluss können Sie gehen, gehen stays in the infinitive after können. These are different sentence patterns.

These phrases can guide someone through a simple fictional appointment. Understand the action and its order before carrying it out. Learning the signing sentence does not tell you whether any real document should be signed.

Use warten in the short instruction, not wartet. Do not drop mit from the come-along step or treat können as must. Keep unterschreiben together in the signing sentence.

First wait, then come along, after that sign, finally leave. The ordering words organise this example, but dann and danach are not always step two and step three.

Retell the fictional sequence and explain which sentence gives permission rather than a requirement. Keep to the known verbs and do not add legal or administrative advice.
