Recognise a position that is not stated directly
Zwischen Zustimmung und Vorbehalt
Infer an author’s stance from the whole argument and separate a supported implication from speculation.
Advanced texts often distribute their position across several sentences. A concession such as gewiss can acknowledge a genuine benefit before a stronger reservation follows. Keineswegs rejects a proposition emphatically; nicht unbedingt merely limits its necessity or certainty. A rhetorical question may challenge an assumption rather than request information. Interpret it in relation to what comes before and after. Do not treat a single positive adjective as the author’s final judgement, and do not infer a hidden motive merely because the text is critical. Cite the linguistic cue, explain its role and check your interpretation against a plausible alternative. Implicit does not mean unknowable, but it also does not mean that any reading is acceptable.
Admittedly, digital registration makes access easier for many.
That does not yet establish, however, that it serves everyone fairly.
Who would want to be seen as an opponent of simplification?
The criticism targets the implementation more than the aim.
Inferring a fundamental rejection from that would go too far.
Der abschließende Vorbehalt relativiert die anfängliche Zustimmung.
The final reservation qualifies the initial agreement.

Gewiss can concede a benefit without endorsing the entire proposal. Nicht unbedingt is weaker than keineswegs; they are not interchangeable.
Concession → contrast or qualification → final emphasis. Support an inferred stance with at least two textual cues; keep an unstated motive separate.
Write a 250–300-word commentary on the German source below. State the author’s qualified position, explain the rhetorical question, distinguish two possible interpretations and justify the stronger one with precise wording. End with a response of your own, clearly separated from the source’s view.
