After phrases such as ich finde, ich glaube, ich weiß or sie sagt, a dass-clause can state the content of a thought or report. Its conjugated verb goes at the end: Ich weiß, dass der Kurs heute beginnt. In a clause with a modal verb, the modal comes last: Sie sagt, dass sie kommen kann. Dass is written with ss and is not the article das. A reported belief is not automatically a fact: Ich glaube, dass der Kurs ausfällt expresses uncertainty, whereas a cancellation notice confirms the cancellation. To give a reason, use weil instead: Ich bleibe zu Hause, weil ich krank bin. The words have different jobs even though both send the verb to the end.
