Trying clothes on
Kleidung anprobieren
Ask to try an item on, understand where the changing room is and say whether it fits.
Ask Kann ich das anprobieren? before trying an item on. Die Umkleidekabine ist dort points out the changing room. Say Das passt mir when the item fits, or Das ist zu groß when it is too big. These two judgements normally describe different items or sizes. Review kann + infinitive and location words. In Passt es Ihnen?, es refers to the item and Ihnen is the polite form corresponding to mir. The dialogue concerns one item that is too big, not one item claimed to fit and not fit at the same time.
Kann ich das anprobieren?
Can I try this on?
Die Umkleidekabine ist dort.
The changing room is over there.
Das passt mir.
This fits me.
Das ist zu groß.
This is too big.
In the question, kann comes first and anprobieren goes at the end. Das refers to the item. In Das passt mir, mir tells us who it fits.
A shop assistant can point to the changing room with dort. After trying an item on, describe its fit; fitting and liking the style are different judgements.
Use anprobieren after kann, not anprobiert. Do not confuse zu groß, too big, with sehr groß, very big.
Try on → anprobieren. Changing room → Umkleidekabine. Fits me → passt mir. Too big → zu groß.
Role-play two sizes of an item. Say one fits and the other is too big, so the two statements have clear, different references.
