Cleaning tasks and materials

Reinigung: Reihenfolge und Material

Understand simple cleaning instructions, ask which product to use and report completion or missing supplies.

Recognise the action and object: den Boden wischen, die Handtücher wechseln, den Mülleimer leeren. Reinigen means clean and saugen means vacuum in this setting. Welches Mittel soll ich benutzen? asks which cleaning product to use; the lesson does not choose a product for you. Review formal instructions with Sie and questions with a verb first. Ist das Zimmer fertig? checks completion; Fehlt etwas? asks whether anything is missing. Etwas means something or anything in these patterns.

Bitte wischen Sie den Boden.

Please mop the floor.

Wechseln Sie die Handtücher.

Change the towels.

Leeren Sie den Mülleimer.

Empty the bin.

Welches Mittel soll ich benutzen?

Which cleaning product should I use?

Das Zimmer ist fertig.

The room is ready.

Hier fehlt Seife.

Soap is missing here.

A formal instruction places the verb before Sie: Wechseln Sie die Handtücher. In the question Welches Mittel soll ich benutzen?, welches Mittel identifies what you ask about; soll comes before ich and benutzen is last.

A task can concern a surface, towels or a bin. These are different objects and actions. If the product is not specified, the question asks for clarification rather than guessing from a language example.

Use wischen with formal Sie, not wischt. Essen means eat and is not the action requested for a cleaning product; the problem is its meaning, not the position of the final verb.

Floor: Boden. Towels: Handtücher. Bin: Mülleimer. Product: Mittel. Soap: Seife. Match each action to its object.

Give two fictional instructions, ask which product is intended and report that soap is missing. Keep this a language exercise, not a cleaning safety procedure.
