My home

Meine Wohnung

Learn common rooms and objects together with their German articles.

German nouns are learned with an article: der Tisch, die Lampe, das Bett. The article shows grammatical gender and is part of the vocabulary. Rooms and objects do not follow one simple meaning-based rule, so learn each pair together.

der Tisch

the table

die Lampe

the lamp

das Bett

the bed

die Küche

the kitchen

das Bad

the bathroom

das Wohnzimmer

the living room

die Tür

the door

das Fenster

the window

Say the article every time you practise the noun. This builds the gender pattern needed later for cases and adjective endings.

Use these nouns to describe a room, read housing adverts, shop for furniture, or report a repair.

Do not guess every article from the object itself. For example, Lampe is feminine: die Lampe, not der Lampe.

Use rhythm to memorize pairs: der Tisch, die Lampe, das Bett.

Look around a room and name five objects or places with the correct German article.
