Time expressions and prepositions

Use um for clock times, am for weekdays and dates, and im for months and seasons. von … bis marks a range; seit starts in the past and continues now; ab marks a starting point from now or the future.

um neun Uhr answers at what clock time.

am Montag / am 3. Mai answers on which day or date.

im Mai / im Sommer answers in which month or season.

von acht bis zwölf gives both limits; seit Montag continues until now; ab morgen begins from tomorrow.
