Personal pronouns in the nominative
Personal pronouns stand in for people or things. Here you learn the subject forms ich, du, er, sie, es, wir, ihr, sie and polite Sie.
ich refers to the speaker, du to one familiar person being addressed, and er/sie/es to one person or thing. wir includes the speaker, ihr addresses several familiar people, and sie refers to several people or things.
Capitalisation matters: sie can mean one woman or several people or things; Sie is the polite form of address for one or more people. The verb form and context reveal the meaning.
This topic covers personal pronouns only as nominative subjects. Accusative and dative forms come in later topics.
