Connectors: und, aber, oder, denn and weil

Connectors join ideas. und, aber, oder and denn introduce another main-clause order. weil introduces a subordinate clause and sends the conjugated verb to the end.

und adds information; aber shows contrast; oder presents alternatives.

denn gives a reason but keeps normal main-clause order: denn es regnet.

weil gives a reason and puts the conjugated verb last: weil es regnet.

With a modal after weil, the modal is the final conjugated verb: weil ich arbeiten muss.
